The book "James and the Giant Peach" was banned in 1991. It is about a boy, James who get possession of boiled crocodile tongues. Then a giant peach starts to grow in the garden. James then meets the lady bug, grasshopper, spider and many more friends along the way. The reasoning for the book being banned was because Mrs. Spider licks her lips, which can be taken in two ways. One which could be taken sexually. Which was not intended at all. Children are losing the fun of the whole book and the adventures they all have together along the way. As a kid it is a very interesting book and also movie. --Do you think that Mrs. Spider licking her lips is worth banning a very good book for?
Liz,
ReplyDeleteThis book looks really interesting, and it's weird it got banned for something that radiculous! I think maybe it was innopropreate for little kids, but most kids could have adult supervision if it's not okay to read it. It seems like a good book though!

I don't think that the spider licking her lips is a very good reason to band the book. I can't even think why they would ban the book for that.
